Retail stores and manufacturers typically extend trade discounts to professionals in the design industry. Trade discounts generally range from 10% to 50% off the retail price with better discounts coming from manufacturers carrying mid-to-high-end product. Designers have different ways of negotiating how product purchases and discounts are calculated in a contract.
